The Reaper. Purton Ship Graveyard.
Image of remains from a part of an old wooden ship. Artistic take on the grim reaper. Taken at Purton Ship Graveyard, near Sharpness, Bristol.
A single weathered post stands like a patient sentinel, its grain furrowed by years of sun and rain. Flakes of gray and silver peel away, revealing the softer, warmer wood beneath—each crack a mapped memory of seasons passed. Beside it, a rusty metal support clamps on with quiet insistence, its reddish-brown patina tracing veins of corrosion where salt and time have worked their slow chemistry. Together they form a study in contrasts: organic lines softened by erosion, hard steel softened by oxidized decay. They speak of endurance and neglect, of utility outlasting its makers, and of a beauty born from the slow, inevitable wear of the elements.
Printed on NST Bright White without watermark in 4X5 ratio.
