We are raising funds to produce a teddy bear for young children with Haemophilia. These are for them to keep and become a best bear friend. Also for them to take to hospital visits when they may be feeling nervous or frightened at the treatment they are going to receive.

Haemophilia is a blood condition that reduces, or totally removes the bodies ability to manufacture clotting agent. This can result in a very small bump leading into a very traumatic injury. Treatments are usually by intravenous or port injections. To find out more about the condition follow the link toThe Haemophilia Society.

We have provided Basingstoke Haemophilia centre with twenty bears so far this year. These cost around £30 to make as outlined below. The Basingstoke Haemophilia centre covers large areas of southern England. These include Dorset County hospital, Salisbury District hospital, Queen Alexandra hospital, Poole hospital, Basingstoke and North Hampshire hospitals and the Royal Bournemouth hospital.

What we provide

We purchase the bears, hoodies, tourniquets, mini sewing labels and syringes. The needles are supplied by the hospital which have the metal parts removed to be safe for the children. We also purchase stickers, a drawing book and printed pencil with the Tology Bear logo. Inside the pack is a bear passport and letters. All presented in a waterproof Tology Bear rucksack, as featured below.

We hand make the bears shorts, hand sew Velcro strips on the arms and chest for the children to position the bears own needle. We print the labels, passport and letters for child and parents. These are then all carefully packed into the rucksacks for presenting to the children at clinic appointments. Allocated by the clinical specialist nurses at clinic. These do cost a lot of money and time to produce so any profits from selling our photography works are going to be used to funds this cause. Please help us help them if you can.

Many, many thanks from us and the children.
